Dwayne Johnson is back to portray the demigod Maui, a role he made famous in the 2016 animated version. In addition to acting, he also takes on the role of producer for this project. Taking on the titular role is 19-year-old Australian actress Catherine Lagaʻaia, who boasts Samoan roots.
