In a bid to boost the productivity and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), Vietnam, along with other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies, is enhancing collaboration to drive digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). During a recent APEC workshop held in Hanoi, Vietnamese authorities underscored the necessity of assisting MSMEs by facilitating technology transfer, fostering digital skills, and encouraging innovation. The gathering included participants from APEC economies, international bodies, and leading tech firms who convened to deliberate on critical issues such as AI integration, digital infrastructure, financial accessibility, and bridging the digital divide.
The workshop serves as a platform for Vietnam as it gears up to host APEC 2027. It aims to create policy recommendations that not only advocate for responsible AI utilization but also aim to fortify regional cooperation in the digital economy. Vietnamese officials highlighted the strategic importance of equipping MSMEs with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully navigate the digital landscape, which is increasingly dominated by AI and other advanced technologies.
