During recent discussions in Hanoi, leaders from Vietnam and Japan emphasized their dedication to fortifying ties between their respective ruling parties and legislative bodies. The talks involved Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two nations celebrated the ongoing progress of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, agreeing to enhance political dialogue and exchanges between parliaments. This comes in the wake of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year, which underscored the importance of such bilateral engagement.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc pointed out Vietnam’s robust economic growth and ongoing reforms in administration. He proposed that Japan could share its expertise in local governance and decentralization to aid Vietnam’s institutional development. Moreover, he advocated for increased collaboration in areas such as human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries and encouraged more exchanges, particularly involving young lawmakers.
The Vietnamese delegation also sought continued support for their community residing in Japan and suggested simplifying visa procedures, with a long-term aim of establishing visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens. This request highlights Vietnam’s efforts to foster closer people-to-people connections and facilitate easier travel between the two countries.
Hagiuda Koichi assured Vietnam of Japan’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation. He conveyed that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party, along with its parliament, would continue to advocate for exchanges and joint projects in cutting-edge technologies, digital innovation, and green energy. This mutual commitment underscores the strategic importance both countries place on their partnership and their shared vision for future collaboration across diverse sectors.
