Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are gearing up to enhance their bilateral cooperation, demonstrating a mutual interest in broadening their partnership across various sectors such as trade and investment. Vietnam’s prominent figure, Tô Lâm, underscored the significance of the collaboration between the two nations, remarking on Côte d’Ivoire’s role as Vietnam’s top trading partner in Africa since 2025. He emphasized the need for expanded cooperation and urged both countries to diversify their trade relations beyond staple commodities like cashew nuts and rice.
Vietnam is also keen on fostering investment partnerships in several key areas. These include agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, as well as emerging fields such as digital transformation and cybersecurity. Additionally, Vietnam is looking at infrastructure, mineral processing, and electric vehicles as potential sectors for increased investment and cooperation.
On the other hand, Côte d’Ivoire has shown a strong interest in attracting Vietnamese businesses to its shores and is eager to expand their collaborative efforts throughout the West African region. This ambition reflects a broader strategy to leverage Vietnam’s economic dynamism and expertise to bolster Côte d’Ivoire’s growth and development prospects.
Further discussions between the two nations also touched upon the importance of strengthening parliamentary exchanges, enhancing educational ties, and developing the workforce. Both countries recognize the value of fostering people-to-people connections, seeing them as a vital component of their growing relationship.
