In a bid to strengthen bilateral relations, Vietnam and Russia are exploring expanded cooperation in human resource training, scientific research, and technology. This development follows discussions in Hanoi on October 7 between Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Chairman of the Commission for Policy and Strategy of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and a Russian delegation.
The talks centered on leveraging Russia’s high technology capabilities to align with Vietnam’s development goals, with both nations expressing a commitment to enhance joint research and training programs. Human resource development emerged as a key focus, with discussions highlighting the importance of building stronger connections between educational and training institutions and facilitating exchanges between experts. Collaborative efforts in engineer training and joint research were also emphasized as essential for long-term cooperation.
Science and technology, alongside innovation, energy, and the oil and gas sectors, were identified as areas ripe for further collaboration. These sectors represent strategic interests for both countries, as they seek to deepen their partnership beyond traditional areas of cooperation.
The meeting underscored a mutual interest in fostering more substantive exchanges, aiming to develop a robust framework for cooperation in education, technology, and strategic research. This aligns with ongoing efforts by both Vietnam and Russia to strengthen ties and create a foundation for sustainable, long-term collaboration.
