As the southwest monsoon intensifies across Thailand, the Smart Water Operation Centre has issued a warning for residents to brace for ongoing rainfall and the potential for flooding. The country’s weather agencies have indicated that heavy rain and isolated downpours are particularly anticipated in the eastern regions and along the southern west coast. People residing in these high-risk areas are advised to stay vigilant for flash floods and forest runoff.
The Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand are currently experiencing the impact of a strengthening southwest monsoon. Additionally, a monsoon trough extending across northern Thailand and into Vietnam is contributing to widespread thunderstorms. These conditions are expected to bring scattered storms and heavy rainfall to the region from June 30 to July 3, with eastern Thailand and the southern west coast facing the greatest threat.
As the monsoon system gradually shifts northward, the period from July 4 to July 6 is forecasted to continue experiencing rainfall, with Thailand still under the influence of strong southwest winds. These weather patterns pose a significant risk of flooding, and authorities have emphasized the importance of staying informed about current weather conditions.
Officials are urging communities in vulnerable zones to remain alert and prepared for sudden flooding. By keeping abreast of weather updates, residents can take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their property during this period of heightened weather activity.
