In a recent diplomatic engagement, Vietnam’s Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc hosted Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys in Hanoi, where discussions centered on expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting underscored the substantial potential for both nations to enhance their partnership in areas such as trade, investment, digital economy, energy, logistics, cybersecurity, science, and technology.
Vietnam took the opportunity to urge Lithuania’s support in encouraging the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) by the remaining EU member states. Additionally, Vietnam sought Lithuania’s advocacy in lifting the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood exports. In response, Lithuania reaffirmed its dedication to bolstering Vietnam-EU relations and revealed its intention to dispatch a business delegation to Vietnam, aimed at exploring further investment opportunities.
Beyond bilateral trade and economic ties, the two countries expressed a shared commitment to enhancing collaboration at international forums such as the United Nations. They emphasized the importance of strengthening ASEAN-EU relations and voiced mutual support for maintaining peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in compliance with international law.
