Vietnam and France are taking steps to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with a focus on enhancing cooperation across several key sectors, including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. Recent discussions held in Hanoi saw both countries evaluate the advancements in their bilateral relations and agree on expediting the execution of their existing partnership action plan.
During these talks, Vietnam emphasized the need for intensified collaboration in defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, and critical minerals, alongside significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to facilitate the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue its efforts in assisting the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” status on Vietnamese seafood exports, which affects trade conditions.
France, recognizing Vietnam’s strategic importance in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed its intention to broaden collaboration in several areas of mutual interest. These include nuclear energy, rare earth materials, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. Beyond economic and technological ties, France seeks to enhance partnerships in healthcare and cultural exchanges, reflecting a comprehensive approach to their strategic relationship.
Both nations committed to fortifying their cooperation on regional and global matters, advocating for multilateralism and dialogue as central tenets of their foreign policy. In addition to bilateral cooperation, they emphasized sustainable development as a mutual goal, underscoring their joint efforts to address international challenges through coordinated actions.
